I think Magento has no chance if the performance don’t gets better. A Onlineshop with 3-5 Seconds of Pageloading will just not be successfull. It’s sad for this great product. But Pageloading is on of the most important issue. You should make Magento double as fast as it is now.

]]> 2008-07-19 T;17:12:00-08:00 Comment by kfischer {url_as_title} After installing Magento I couldn’t install the sample data because the SQL Script has a bunch of create tables.  The work around is to execute the sample data scripts prior to stepping through the regular install routine.  However, after that I didn’t know the admin password.  The work around is to actually step through the installation (with a different database) and pluck the encrypted password (assuming you use the same encryption key) out of the admin_user table and applying it to the same on the sample data database.

I recommend that magento change the sample data script to be more friendly with existing installations, such as wrapping the create tables with a if object exist check.

I hope this helps others.
