Just wondering what level of integration is available with this extension. From a quick look at the extension page it seems it will display wordpress content inside the Magento theme. Is there anything else it does?
Cheers.

I’ve got this working on a client site - you can also modify the title of the blog, choose whether or not the menu (latest posts, rss, etc) shows up on the right or left hand columns, choose which layout for the blog to use, and whether or not the link is enabled in the footer.

Very nice work!
Can anyone else confirm that this only works with the default theme and not the modern theme?

I can answer that one - currently that is the case but it will be working with the Modern theme with the next release (of the extension) which should be soon.

i seem to get this error in the blog box:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function query_posts() in /home/manicure/domains/manicured.co.uk/public_html/app/design/frontend/default/default/template/blog/menu.phtml on line 26

@RH - the magento theme is for wordpress, not magento. Try that and see if it helps.

Hello.
Yes i go into the Wordpress design - themes and select the magento theme. Then when i go to my home page and browse to the blog footer i get a blank screen, but if i change back to the wordpress default screen it work fine.
I also get the fatal error in the blog box on the right or left depending on where i set it.
I have gone throught the instruction in the overview and completed each one.
I set up a separate word press database when i load wordpress by its own, is this right or should i tell it to find the magento database?
Very confused
Thanks for your help

What does it do, what is it good for? (Can only customers post to a product, or the shop owner, everybody? Who can read the posts, who can be excluded) There is no documentation at all, no screenshots, but hey, I can add comments.
And whats this “Get Extension Key” all about? I select magento-community/Mage_Blog and then what happens? nothing - no download! omg: I HAVE to backup my magento installation before I add this Extension! What is the download/installation process, can I look at the code, where? Oh: i have to install extensions from within magento, so I have no control what I put in my store?
Please correct me if I’m wrong and if this is NOT the process: I cannot download extensions to inspect the content of the package, I cannot add the Extension-files to the Magento installation myself. (If this is true: BYE BYE MAGENTO, not on my server!!!!!)

@ocw-ray: never installed PEAR package? bye bye then
15Capsule |posted June 24 2008
ocw-ray, please stop whining and just don’t use it if your’re not happy with the info provided, everybody will be muuuuch happier.

@ocw-ray - Magento uses the PEAR package manager to distribute and install the various extensions (PEAR is the name of the package manager as well as the various PHP extensions), so that is why there is not a regular download. I do agree it would be good to have a regular download tar.gz file, but that said I really like the way Magento is set up with it’s ‘Magento Connect’.
To install any extension, and to manage Magento upgrades, do the following:
- log in to the Admin section
- go to: System->Magento Connect->Manage Extensions (in the menu)
- log in to the seperate magento connect (you can also get there directly by going to example.com/downloader)
- Paste the extension key (magento-community/Mage_Blog) under ‘Install New Extensions’
- Click ‘Install’
(you will need to check that your file permissions allow the web installer to copy the files in place, otherwise there is a command-line installer which is even quicker and easier to use)
If you just want to check out the code and have a look at the features before installing it on your site, I would recommend using the extension with a test install of Magento until you are happy with everything.

@ocw-ray: and don’t forget to alter the settings The Connect Manager will not install Betas while you hav ‘stable’ as preference

anyone know if this will work with the next version of magento?
19sherrie from Illinois, USA|posted July 8 2008
Yes, it’s already been tested in a 1.1 environment and made compatible.

@schmelzgeist,
I installed the wordpres successfully by following your tips. But when I tried to verify it on my local magento by url http://localhost/magento/blog. I got the following error:
Notice: Use of undefined constant TEMPLATEPATH - assumed ‘TEMPLATEPATH’ in C:\wamp\www\magento\app\design\frontend\default\default\template\blog\blog.phtml on line 22
How do I fix this bug?
Your earliest attention will be much appreciated.

I get the same problem as RH.
I tried many different things for hours, but no luck.
