Video: Magento via iPhone
As mentioned earlier this week, a new iPhone optimized Magento theme will be available in the next few days via Magento Connect. Additionally, as part of the upcoming 1.1 release, automatic detection and delivery of packages, theme(s) (templates, skins, css, layouts) based on the user-agent (client) may be associated on a global, website and store view. The video below gives a preview of Magento on the iPhone.
Magento will thus be mobile ready for every out of the box implementation.
Note: As much as we love Magento, please do not attempt this at home ("[Man] surgically alters thumbs to better use iPhone")

Just out of curiosity… with mobile theme support on the frontend of magento. Theoretically, this means that it would be possible to manage/fullfill orders on the backend via iPhone too, wouldnt it?

cooooooool.... we are waiting for for it. Thx for Roy and his team. Great work.
Roy, I just thought to drop some of my ideas about mobile devices detection. Hope it will help to break the barriers in Mobile-Magento world…
Roy, Mobile devices detection over UA is great. But I think it is bit problematic when we considering on other devices out there . There are lot of devices with different capabilities. So this detection is specific to iPhone right. I think it is ok for this scenario. But when we considering about the other devices, we have to know the device screen size, supported markups, Flash Lite support, image support, HTPPS support and so many. If we don’t know these things, Its bit hard to serving a correct page and content to a specific device. In that case It needs a proper mobile capabilities database like WURFL. As I post previously http://www.magentocommerce.com/blog/comments/mobile-commerce-magento-style/
So my idea is better to use WURFL for that requirements. Thousands of mobile sites using WURFL for mobile phone detection. Its a good database and stable too. They are providing API for PHP, JAVA, RUBY, PERL, PYTHON, DOT NET, C++. Other thing is they are providing image resizing libraries too. My opinion is it is good to use that marvelous database for mobile detection.
