Tool King Gets Magento Mobilized
Toolking.com, a premier Internet tool retailer that is powered by Magento, just released their customized mCommerce iPhone app built with Magento Mobile, the first native mCommerce platform for iPhone.
By launching their free iPhone app has expanded the multi-channel experience for their users by utilizing both Magento Enterprise and Magento Mobile platforms. Based on industry trends, by 2011, 1 in 4 mobile users will purchase an item on their phone, making mCommerce a “mainstream activity”. It is also estimated, by 2012, mobile internet usage will surpass PC internet usage.
Toolking.com, an Internet Retailer 500 company, was founded 1978 in Denver, Colorado, as a small retail store, selling hammers and power tools to craftsmen and do-it-yourselfers. Within five years, after realizing the high demand for such products, Tool King opened a chain of stores throughout Colorado and was recognized as an Inc 500 Company. Seeing the ecommerce opportunity, Tool King launched their first ecommerce site in 2001 and by 2004 was voted as Top 50 Best of the Web by Internet Retailer.
With the announcement of Magento Enterprise last year, Tool King saw the opportunity of reducing the need to relying on in-house resources for building and maintaining their ecommerce platform and upgraded to Magento by November of same year to “leverage ongoing support… utilize updates… and employ available apps (Magento Connect)”.
Tool King followed their initiative of enhancing user experience a year later by offering their first mCommerce feature on iPhone utilizing Magento Mobile, which integrates with the eCommerce counterpart powered by Magento Enterprise.
