Los Angeles, CA and Brusells, Belgium—December 10th, 2009 - The Magento team, creators of the world’s fastest growing eCommerce platform, and Ogone, a leading European Payments Service today announce official integration of Ogone payment processing with the Magento eCommerce platform. Starting immediately, operators of Magento online shops can use the payment solutions offered by international payment service provider Ogone.
The integration is achieved via an add-on extenstion to the Magento software which was developed jointly by Varien and Ogone. The module is available to merchants free of charge at http://www.magentocommerce.com/extension/2212/official-ogone-extension. Compatible with all versions of Magento, the plug-in is quick and easy to install and requires no special knowledge outside of general Magento administration skills. Currently, Magento is the platform of choice for over 30,000 online retailers and is tremendously popular within European markets.
With Ogone’s payment solutions, Magento retailers can utilize all of the international and local payment procedures that are commonplace in major European markets. Ogone works with more than one hundred acquirers. The company’s well-engineered fraud-detection procedures make it possible for online retailers to verify the authenticity of buyers and set various parameters to configure the level of risk they are willing to accept during their transactions. “Our high standards of quality and the wide range of payment options were key criteria for our collaboration with Ogone,” explains Roy Rubin, CEO of Varien. “This functionality makes our platform even more attractive for European retailers.”
The Magento eCommerce platform is the world’s fastest growing eCommerce platform with more than 1.2 million downloads in just a year and a half. The Magento Connect platform, a marketplace for the distribution of community and commercial Magento products and services has also given rise to a vibrant community of users and third party developers, who are constantly contributing new extensions, expanding Magento’s functionality. More than 240 payment-related extensions are currently available; however, only seven of these, including the Ogone plug-in, are part of the core Magento application developed by Varien, which guarantees error-free performance in the current and all future editions.
“Of Magento’s seven core payment solutions, Ogone is the only true pan-European operator,” reports Ogone CEO Peter De Caluwe. “We see this as a testament to the quality of our solutions. We are expecting a significant upswing in business as a result of the connection with Magento.” Currently, more than 20,000 online shops in 35 countries use Ogone as their payment service provider.
