Magento Community Translation Tool

image

An all new community translation tool is now available to make translating Magento to different languages as easy as possible.

This powerful in-line tool allows to work on a live interface and create translations, or suggest alternatives to existing translations. Translations can now be voted on as well and the moderators will be able to select the most appropriate suggestion.

There are now 3 ways to translate your language:

  1. Translate strings broken down by module via our Full String List tool
  2. Use the in-line translation live interface (much like the in-line translation tool on a local installation of Magento), to add and vote for suggestions.
  3. Download the complete package.

We will soon add the ability for moderators to make the translations available through Magento Connect.

If you’d like to get involved or don’t see your locale listed or if you have any problems or suggestions for the new tool, please contact us.

    Nice one Yoav!  Just gave it a test out (inline), and it looks good.

    Wasn’t sure if I might have got a duplicate entry when I voted on my own suggestion.  Also, I was trying to see if I could get to the payment section of 1-page checkout to translate, but couldn’t get that far (no shipping).

    Is there a suggested procedure for submitting a translated ‘Full string list’

    Thanks,
    Ross.

    This Tool is great! In german there is a formal (sie) and a informal (du) way to speak. So is it possible to make two Translations? (Like in the most popular scripts).

    German informal is for shops with young customers who gonna be threated like buddies.

    German formal is for shops with major customers who wants courtesy.

    @SeL
    We are working on a tool that will notify moderators for submitted suggestions. We will announce once it’s ready.

    @Ross
    Thank you.
    1.Moderators can vote for their own suggestion, It will not duplicate the entry.
    2. We are looking into the checkout issue now.
    3. As for the suggested procedure...its really up to you, we have no formal procedure.
