Announcing Partnership with Parallels for One-Click Installation of Magento
We are pleased to announce a collaborative partnership between Varien and Parallels (formerly SWsoft), a company well known for providing virtualization and automation solutions (including the Plesk Control Panel) to more than 10,000 hosting providers who collectively serve more than 12 millions domains worldwide.
Through the partnership, Parallels will make Magento available to end users as a one-click installation by providing the eCommerce software through their Parallels Service Provider Channel to hosting providers such as 1&1, Host Europe, and Cohaesio.
Roy Rubin, Founder and CEO of Varien, said of the new partnership: “Parallels is the #1 leader in hosting automation/SaaS software, so we are very happy to align with them and provide Magento to potentially up to millions of end users.”
Soeren von Varchmin, Vice President of Parallels, SaaS and Service Providers International, added “We believe that Magento is a fantastic and valuable eCommerce solution that complements the growing portfolio of APS applications that our service providers will offer to their SMB and SoHo customers.”
Magento will first be packaged by Parallels into the Application Packaging Standard (APS) format and certified before being made available through the Service Provider Channel.
Parallels will also highlight Magento at the upcoming Parallels Summit 2008, to be held in Washington, DC, May 19-20, 2008. More information on the Parallels SaaS Program and the APS standard can be found on the Parallels SaaS website and at APSstandard.com.

Sweet. I hope it becomes a one-click for DreamHost.

@sherrie - If you are a Dreamhost customer, you can suggest and/or vote for Magento at the following URL:

What about a cPanel install?

Ditto for cPanel install support.

Great news, especially if you’re a Parallels <em>and</i> Magento partner :D

Thanks for the tip Roy - I’ll go do that now!

How about a one-click for Blue Host?
8Crucial from Phoenix, AZ|posted March 29 2008
What control panel does Blue Host use? I would imagine it’s their own.

Ask your host if they support Magento
Spread the word to your hosting provider and send them our way - we’d love to work with them to make Magento accessible to everyone with as little effort as possible.

Blue Host uses cPanel. Before I switched to them I showed Magento to the live chat person, and he gave the thumbs up regarding system requirements. If I get a chance tomorrow I’ll chat with them again and see if there’s a chance of them offering Magento to make my life easier.
11Crucial from Phoenix, AZ|posted March 29 2008
Via 1-click install you mean? Because if Blue Host said they meet the requirements, then you should have no problem installing it. It’s actually not that hard. Then again, I’m partial I suppose, I’ve done over 150 installs
But yeah, I see a cPanel install coming pretty soon. If not, I’ll certainly make one (and have thought about doing it before).

I’m confident I’ll have no problems, but if they offer it then it’ll make my job that much easier.
So far I’ve only done one install, locally.

An impressive partnership deal! Well done! It looks like there will be plenty of work for Magneto themers and developers in the near future.
P.S I’ve already mentioned Magento to 2 ISPs, but it won’t be long now before Magento is too big for any ISP to ignore.

Media Temple...if you’re listening you need to jump on aboard and make this available to your customers.

We are a web host and we do support Magento, but we use cPanel and to my knowledge there is no simple solution (1 click install option) for cPanel, we would definitely incorporate it into our setup if / when there is.

Congratulations to both Varien and Parallels!
This is great news and we’re VERY happy to see this partnership. Parallels is the industry leader in hosting solutions and to have this partnership will only lead to great things for both companies.
We’re proud to be Partner with and provide services for both Varien and Parallels. This news clearly validates our partnership with each of these great companies.
Congratulations indeed!

My Plesk Application Vault (from Parallels aka. SWsoft) through (mt)MediaTemple hasn’t be updated in years. Wordpress is still at 2.0 in there (not that I’d ever use it to install WP).
So I’m not expecting Magento in there anytime soon. Would be nice though.

Consider this one vote for a Fantastico install.
21Crucial Web Host from Phoenix, AZ|posted March 30 2008
Smokersroom,
Due to the complexities of the underlying software required to run Magento I doubt that you will see a Fantastico installation anytime in the near future. The install would simply fail for 99% of the web servers that Fantastico is available on because of these underlying requirements.
The one click installation procedure will likely be at the container level for Parallels products and then followed by an Application Vault release for the Parallels Plesk product.
Something tells me that the Fantastico installer is just a fantasy.

Excellent, great news (v.1 launched), and good news Plesk control panel install. Is there a chance that this can be offered on IIS versions of the Plesk control panel? My hosting is currently running on the Plesk IIS version with fastCGI support.

I don’t see this available in Media Temples Plesk implementation. Is it coming?

1.1.3-2 is the most recent available version? Has the partnership collapsed? I just found this post by searching for answers as to why I can’t get 1.2 at aspstandard.com
