For those pursuing open source solutions, we can imagine what to expect in the next few years given the momentum of open source. Magento made E-commerce cool again [and its clear that] Open Source will enable the next generation of eCommerce shops.

Since migrating from the Yahoo platform, Brugeshome.com‘s potential has increased exponentially for this multi-channel retailer. The shopping experience is excellent and we have the ability to enhance the site as we wish. I can’t begin to say how awesome it is to work with Magento on marketing and merchandising ... Orders have increased 6 fold up to this point and we expect continued growth. From a merchandising perspective, we can create custom pages and promote different products like never before.

… I also like is the fact it’s not aimed at beginners. It’s enterprise level, and while I’m sure we will still get a stream of very similar Magento websites, all based on the default theme, hopefully their mark on the web won’t be anywhere near as ghastly as that of other open source ecommerce solutions. But for established ecommerce businesses looking to take their site to the next level, Magento is by far the best open source product on the market and definitely worthy of your attention!

… It is the first full blown Magento site we have built, and based on my past experience with other shopping carts I must say Magento rocks my socks! The functionality is great, the ease of integration with Authorize.net was a breeze, and most importantly it is open source.
