“See anything interesting in there?” I asked ... “Magento,” he said without hesitating.
Magento was definitely the buzz at the Shop.org Summit in Las Vegas this week. Practically everyone we spoke with (who was looking to re-platform soon) was considering open source ... there’s a considerable groundswell behind Magento for good reason. It’s flexible. Robust. And best of all, it’s less expensive than a lot of other platforms offering the same features.
The Lyons Consulting Group and the Magento team are joining forces to present ”Open Source: Hype vs. Reality, a webinar focused on fostering education and market awareness around the Magento open-source eCommerce solution.. The webinar will feature Roy Rubin, CEO of Varien, the Magento Company and Jamie Kail, Director of eCommerce Services of Lyons Consulting Group coming together to answer the fundamental questions around open source commerce and Magento.
Record breaking month ... and without going all the way with extra new marketing features as SEO optimization, landing page optimization, A/B testing etc., the “simple” change we made from Intershop to Magento has almost doubled our orders, and increased our revenue by 50-60%, this happened literally overnight.
The power of layered navigation, and one page checkout are a large part of this increase. My prediction for the coming year is that it will be 4 to 5 times better, the main flaws in our website do not lie anymore in the shopping engine but in my design, landing pages, call to action pages etc, promotions etc. But the fact that Magento gives me an opportunity to focus on marketing instead of solving technical issues is a conversion booster by itself.
The costs savings that Magento brings are so obvious ... People were so utterly frustrated working with the our older platforms backend with so many technical issues. All that is solved now with Magento. The ease of use, the fact that it is working, I’m not kidding, my employees tell me everyday how great the software works!
So IMHO, I see no reason for any(!) company to NOT choose Magento against a Hybris or an Intershop, seeing the plugins made by the community and the growing number of industrial partners and the fact that you are only one year and half really on your way.
Rarely has a piece of software been welcomed so euphorically as the open source platform Magento. For those pursuing open source solutions, we can imagine what to expect in the next few years given the momentum of open source. Magento made E-commerce cool again [and its clear that] Open Source will enable the next generation of eCommerce shops.
Since migrating from the Yahoo platform, Brugeshome.com‘s potential has increased exponentially for this multi-channel retailer. The shopping experience is excellent and we have the ability to enhance the site as we wish. I can’t begin to say how awesome it is to work with Magento on marketing and merchandising ... Orders have increased 6 fold up to this point and we expect continued growth. From a merchandising perspective, we can create custom pages and promote different products like never before.
In short, Magento truly is turning out to be the platform for growth and we’re excited to bring more sites online using this platform.
Our site has been live with Magento since the day before Thanksgiving. In that time visits are up 203%, page views up 288%, and our bounce rate has fallen from near 40% to just 21%. The average customer now sees 5.5 pages (vs 3.9) and our conversion rate is climbing ... We are now in the process of converting 3 more sites to Magento and look forward to bringing them online starting in Q1 of next year.
We love how simple it us to use Magento now that the site is up and running. The user friendly admin panel makes it easy for me to run the site without a lot of IT help. Plus, the new design and the one-page checkout have increased our conversion rate by over 50%!
Magento was first launched into release earlier this year. This ecommerce platform showed a lot of promise in beta with a clear road map of where Varien (the company behind this open source project) was taking the platform ... The system is incredibly powerful, scalable, and reliable [and] Varien is on the verge of not just taking Open Source ecommerce to the next level but ecommerce as a whole.
