In a recent blog post, Marc from the Next Generation Shopping blog compared Magento to ASP.NET shopping carts:

I’m a sucker for good lucks and that’s exactly what Magento is: Good Looking! Utilizing Scriptlicious, AJAX, and tagging it has Web 2.0 written all over it. It comes with a wide array of features ‘out of the box’ ... I would definitely keep an eye on this going into 2008. It looked pretty enough on the outside to make me consider moving from ASP.NET to PHP for the project ... If I was a competitor I would look at all the things they are doing right and take notes.

Although Marc decided not to use Magento for the project (well ... since Magento is currently in a preview release), we appreciate the kind words. Thanks Marc!

The creative minds working with Magento have started to turn up some great designs. The latest comes to us from a German agency, Ost-Kombinat, who produced this great layout integrated with Magento.

With Magento’s templating system, the options are endless. We can’t wait to see what the community turns out next.

By popular demand, we recently added a knowledge base article on how to upgrade Magento. This has been a topic of many forum posts and we hope it addresses the questions.

The Magento Community keeps growing and with over 6,100 posts (in roughly 50 days since launch) the forum is where most of the action is happening. We recently introduced sub-forum functionality for better categorization and structure of the topics (see related forum post).

Magento’s blog is now available in 14 languages, with the recent addition of Hebrew, Italian, Lithuanian, Danish and Portuguese blogs.

Magento 0.6.13160 is now available for download. In this minor release, the following items were updated:

• Fixed links parameters handling in CMS pages
• Fixed default currency displaying in frontend stores
