Magento Was the Life of the Party At IRCE

image

image image image image image image

Magento stormed the IRCE in San Diego with an eager team including Roy Rubin and Bob Schwartz. Our boldly decorated booth quickly turned into a beehive of activity, constantly filled with traffic and enthusiasm. Before long we were surrounded by merchants and solution partners, energized by the Magento brand.

Magento Enterprise Edition came to life in live demonstrations. Businesses, of all types and sizes, came to engage in conversations to learn how Magento Enterprise can improve their store’s overall operation and stimulate business growth. Everyone from wine vendors, jewelers, and social cause businesses to aggregators of multi-stores and websites came to see how Magento can help grow their online presence.

Sporadic 10 minute online shopping sprees brought huge crowds to our booth. They watched as winners frantically tried to fill their virtual shopping carts, with the computers, luxury watches, and shoes of live Magento based stores, before the time limit expired. Many hung around just to be a part of it.

Merchants that flowed out of our booth flowed into the booths of our 40+ solution partners. It truly was a non-stop hub of eCommerce conversation and interactions, energy and excitement.

Overall IRCE was a fantastic show and a new height of success for Magento. Thank you to everyone who visited booth 1515, it was absolutely one of our most exhilarating events yet.

Magento Developers Paradise 2011

At the second annual Magento Developers Conference, over 100 attendees basked in the sun on the beautiful Balearic Island of Ibiza . They buried their feet in the sand and swam in the Mediterranean Sea. They took boat rides and ate lavish meals; drank cocktails, danced and mingled. They had their fun in the sun but for the most part, in the true spirit of the conference, the developers did what developers do. They coded. They developed.

They developed their expertise, putting to use a program with more than fifteen speakers. Magento co-founder and CFO Yoav Kutner, members of the Magento Core Team, and many Magento partners enlightened the crowd with a range of topics. They wowed the many in attendance with presentations on new releases, the full capabilities of Magento’s open source platform, its best uses, and what’s in store for the future. Creating the biggest stir on the island were the lectures covering what can be expected for Magento 2, which is currently under development. MDP attendees were impressed with Magento’s focus on improving the core and performance as well as Magento’s willingness to consider community input for new features and enhancements.

Attendees developed their skills by comparing notes and success stories with other developers. We were happy to see many Magento community members from last year working together with first time MDP attendees to share and hear what’s new in Magento product development. At the Hack-a-thon event, a favorite amongst attendees, four teams worked together for four hours to produce four extensions now available on Magento Connect. At MDP attendees did not just learn, they created.

All the jet skis, the music and the sightseeing. Developers crave not these things. They came here for the coding. To evolve. But I am sure all the glitz and glamour of Ibiza, Spain was a nice bonus.

We would like to thank Thomas Fleck and his team for organizing this wonderful event. Thank you to the amazing speakers. And a special thank you to all of the attendees. Everyone helped make Magento Developers Paradise 2011 a huge success.

We hope to see you next year!

Meet Magento - Netherlands 2011

The annual Meet Magento Netherlands was held last Thursday, May 19 in the quaint town of Ede. In its third year, the one day conference grew considerably from the previous year with over 300 attendees, community members, speakers and sponsors. The program featured more than twenty speakers with a mix of Magento keynotes, from Bob Schwartz and Baruch Toledano, in-depth technical breakouts and interesting marketing sessions.

Magento Passion

Throughout the event you could feel the passion for Magento! Many of the attendees were excited to be there and learn more about Magento. The energy started right from the opening session from Meet Magento organizer and host, Guido Jansen, and enthusiastic moderator, Anouschka Laheÿ.

In the closing session, Anouschka asked Bob Schwartz what struck him most about the event. Besides joking about his difficulty pronouncing Dutch names, Bob said, "The energy here is great! All of the attendees and partners are fantastic. I have had so many interesting conversations about how they can expand beyond the borders and go global."

The sponsors kept the buzz going with creative elements to their booths. The Copernica attendees showed their spirit by coordinating in red ties and Converse sneakers, Byte Internet had girls dressed in costume and Kega was even giving away a ticket to the Magento Developers Paradise for a referral of a developer that gets hired by the company.

The event closed with a high energy drawing of 28 giveaways from sponsors that totaled over €10.000 with the top prizes awarded to Karin Troustgeschenk for a remote helicopter and Tom Nieuwenhuis of Scorg IT for a Magento U training.
