how to resize catalog images?

I am using magento go. I have already read the manual, and have resized the images from Design->Themes Editor->Catalog Images. I have set the width and height to 250px for Grid and List category views. But the width is not getting fixed to 250px in Grid view. In list view, the image is 250x250 but its overlapping the text.
Someone please help!
