  Hello,Whenever i update my admin panel configuration in the production site. The cache gets clear automatically. I am not sure why. Whenever cache gets cleared memcached is not able to respond for some reason,then database gets heavy load immediately and site goes down. I tried configuring cache slow back end with "File" system. I am not able to test this scenario in magento. Whenver i turn off memcache to let the cache goes to slow back end , which is File system the site shows up blank page. I am expecting File system /var/cache folder to cache it up when i take memcache down. But its not doing. Do you guys have any idea how to configure this slow back end, and how to test? Am i doing anything wrong. below is the sample config.

  I am trying to add my own insurance on my shipping costs.  The problem is that I don't know how to extract my shipping rates in order to adjust them.  I want a way to add additional shipping fees similar to the getFinalPriceWithHandlingFee() method found in 'Mage_Shipping_Model_Carrier_Abstract'  I know I can't rewrite an abstract class, or I would just rewrite it and add functionality and overwrite some of the methods in it.Any help would be appreciated!

All 5 use another module - Core module.I don't want the core module to be a separate published (it shouldn't even be searchable) since it is not extension but just Core module with common functionality for other 5 modules.When someone installs one of 5 modules the Core module should be installed automaticly since there is dependency set in config files.What would be the best approach?Thanks

  I'm experiencing some technical difficulties with a custom paymethod module. I tried following this guide - it didn't work for me. I tried several other online tutorials for creating custom payment modules. Still no luck.I even bought the book - and I still can't make it work.My current problem is that I have no problem in making it work in the admin part - but my payment method just won't appear in the frontend when trying to complete an order.It's really frustrating - it's not possible to find any good documentation for developing in magento.   I am developing two payment modules for South African Safeshop payment gateway. One method use API (XML based post and response) and other redirect credit card payment capture form.XML version seems to be the easier one as you not leaving the Magento environment. Redirect form the problem, here you leave the site and after credit card prosessing completed the user is redirected to a success/fail page. Need to figure out where to reconnect to the order, how to update transaction as either successful or fail. Any guideline, samples, etc will be most welcome. Thanks.

So I think its just a little difference somewhere in the config.xml to make CE1.4 recognize it.
